New Life for XP

Why stop XP
This month three of the top four PC sellers worldwide will sell computer systems with Windows XP right up to the Microsoft-mandated deadline of June 30. This is insane. Why stop a product that works and everyone likes.

This mandate of Microsoft saying to stop selling XP pro on June 30 for retailers and major computer makers is kind-of-crazy. MS has finally got the XP pro to a working operating system, why stop now.

Now for sanity. There seems to be a clause in the Microsoft’s guidelines that lets the computer makers install Windows XP Professional on new PCs at the customer’s request when those machines are ordered with Windows Vista Business or Windows Vista Ultimate. Wahoo for this, I like the thinking, where there is a need, fill it.

Dell has make the announcement that they will use the downgrade clause to offer buyers XP Professional preinstalled long after the June 30 deadline. I guess I have done support too long, my motto, if it is not broke, do not change it.

What do you think???
