Digital is King at Movie Box Office
It is amazing this weekend movie Dark Knight pulled in around $155 million dollars in the U.S. I believe on Tuesday afternoon the money made from the Dark Knight will show foreign box office. You can follow it on Box Office Mojo. I hope it reaches over $200 million total. It will change another record.
Do not know if you noticed that all of the top-box office money makers are all heavy digital created movies. Top Movies of all time Titanic, Pirates of Carabean along with Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and Harry Potter. All heavy digital created movies. The latest the crop of digital movies, Ironman, Indiana Jones, Kung-fu Panda and now the Dark Knight. The Dark Knight is the second installment of Batman with Christian Bale in the suite, in this movie he takes on the Joker Heath Ledger. The Dark Knight set the week end box office Total with $155 million passing Spiderman another digital enhanced movie, it did about $800 million when it was done.

When you think dress up. Think Halloween Costume
Wow! The summer is at the mid-way point. Can you believe I ready one of hottest Halloween costumes on pre-order this year is the Barrack Obama costume. Just yesterday, not literary, we were dressing up in colonial outfits and singing Yankee Doodle dandy. Sorry, Do not hold it against me for using the Y word. Now school is right around the corner and there will be dress up for plays in school.
This is going to be a good year for costumes. I mentioned about the popular politician costume, lets not forget the movie characters costumes this year will be Indiana Jones, Hulk, Batman, Iron man, the new mummy movie, and children dressing up as there favorite Panda movie fighters for Halloween.
Halloween originated under the name of Samhain as a Pagan festival among the Celts of Ireland and Great Britain. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century.
While you are reading this the term Halloween was shorten many years ago from All-hallow-even, as it is the evening of/before “All Hallows’ Day”, also known as “All Saints’ Day”. It was a day of religious festivities in various northern European Pagan traditions, until Popes Gregory III and Gregory IV moved the old Christian feast of All Saints’ Day from May 13 to November 1. In the ninth century, the Church measured the day as starting at sunset, in accordance with the Florentine calendar. Although All Saints’ or Hallows’ Day is now considered to occur one day after Halloween, the two holidays were at that time celebrated on the same day. The Church traditionally celebrated that day as the Vigil of All Saints. Like other vigils, it was celebrated on the previous day if it fell on a Sunday, although secular celebrations of the holiday remained on the 31st.

Today the domain extensions “.me” went on sale at GoDaddy. There was a massive rush to get and register highly desirable .me domain names. I know by noon they were already selling the .me domain sites on forums. Since you had to pay $19.95 a year times two, the opening bids were $50.
The requests for the .ME open registration was so great there were more than a few issues. Like several people buying the same .me domain, thinking they all purchased the domain. I would hate to be the one that sorts that out. Not to mention some law suites I could see popping up. I have used GoDaddy for years and they are super about taking care of you when a problem arrives with a refund. Not sure is will surfice on this issue of the .me domains. The latest gold rush. I should of got the domian “ho.me” for a home furnishing site. Oh well.

Technology, Cameras, Electronics and Change
I have lived in an interesting part of technology development on the planet. Growing up The major technology break though was the cassette player and instamatic camera. Then the moon missions came an pushed the limits of micro-technology with writing pens you could use while laying upside-down, Teflon on cookware, the 35mm camera craze, calculators, LED watches and lets not for get computers.
One of the other changes that I have seen has been the change in marketing products to customers. I have for years gotten promotions via catalog on clothes, electronics, cameras, music, books and many other things you could purchase though the mail. It was always easy to call an 800 number if you could not wait for the product and was in a hurry.
Back when the bulk of all catalog advertising that I received was about cameras and electronic stuff. You could spend hours and hours going through all of the different products. Then came the time to compare prices of other cameras or products to see when catalog company offered the best deal. One catalog that came back to mind was from a New York Camera Store that sells audio and Video electronics along with digital cameras. The camera store in question is 42 Street Photo. They had some of the best catalogs on camera stuff, now I found them reaching broader audience via 42Photo.com. 42 Street Photo is one company that has changed with times from cameras and photo reproduction sales to more of camcorder sales, digital camera sales and mp3 player sales. There business is still about cameras; it is just that cameras have changed so much just in the last few years. Nice to see a business make it through the technology of change.
Not sure about if I like the old catalogs or being able to see the product from the Internet. Both would be better.
NPR releases 13 years of its history
Something real cool is that NPR is giving out access to 13 years of its radio and broadcasting history for developers to use news, talk and entertainment program to cronicle the widely popular radio station. Now pretty soon I might be able to do a radio search from a database like search and find information that I want from the the National Public Radio outfit. Two of my biggest hobbies is history and radio. We might even see and hear some of it on YouTube. Playing video of radio. hmmmmmm. Anyway I can see more and more of broadcast media doing the same with its old broad casts, might make a few extra dollars of advertising along the way.
Some of you my know is that National Public Radio-NPR is a distributor of noncommercial news, talk, and entertainment programming. NPR is a privately supported, not-for-profit membership organization. They will take your donations, please. I sill listen as much as I can they do come up with some interesting info.
Automobile, Finances and Debt Management
Sometime ago, I had to get my wife a more current automobile, I was wanting to replace her van with another van or suv. The current car was a Dodge Grand Caravan, my daughter is about 5.8 and she could sit with leg room in the Grand Caravan. I went to several dealerships and tested several different vans. While test cars I also tested loans. Most loans had a high interest rate, more than I wanted to pay.

After driving and sitting in the back of all the vans, I decided to buy another Dodge Grand Caravan, it was the only van that my oldest daughter could sit in with comfort. Once I picked out the car or van I wanted, next stop the finance manager, he was very nice but wanted every information about me except my blood type. It was a Monday, I sat around for about 5 hours while the Finance guy did his thing with checking auto loans rates at banks and lending companies, he came up with an interest I was willing to pay from a financial services business in Texas. It was a real hassle waiting all that time, but my wait paid off, he refused to take my down payment money and I signed my life away for the next 5 years and drove off with Grand Caravan. By working an extra job I was able to pay off the 2005 GC in March 2007, the value dropped well below what I paid for it. So much for income producing investment. Next time to save from having a loan, I will buy a cheaper used car. Since I paid off the Van, I used the extra money to pay off other debts and at one time debt free. Then I was able to quit my extra job.

Stranger that fiction: MS/Yahoo Search
Can this be true, Microsoft may be the proud owner of the Yahoo search only. This has come about after a second try by Microsoft to buy the entire Yahoo company. As usually Yahoo rejected the bid. Now it is being know tha MS might just want to purchase the search business part. I am not sure if Yahoo would be in for that. We will keep our eyes open to see how this soap opera takes hold.

Music’s new emerging media
I have been noticing the shrinking of the number of CD’s available, but on the opposite site I am finding several really good music download sites. It is looking like the MP3 players crowd is changing the music platform again. First we had record albums, then 8-track tapes, cassette tapes to CD’s and DVD’s for music storage. I still have a record player with albums, a 8-track tape recorder, yes a rare recorder among all the other types of music devices. The music news has been reporting the 10-14 percent decrease in CD sales and 30-40 percent increase in the MP3 music downloadable format. It looks like the generation Y is setting a new trend via MP3 Players.
