Holidays are sneaking up on us

September and the end of summer is coming very soon, it is time to start on a reflection on the up coming holiday seasons. Wal-mart has their Halloween and Christmas decoriations ready for sale. Here in Alabama we some Halloween parties, but everyone has a Thanksgiving day feast and Christmas party. Maybe we should loosen up and embrace All Halos eve a little more. I know if I want to get my Christmas invitations printed and mailed on time I need to get on the stick and get them order. Now I have do the inventory of who to invite. I think the reason the South like Thanksgiving and Christmas parties is because of all the food. Everyone likes to eat.

Changes of the Season

The question of the day is why every change of the season it is time to the replace the home decor. Not sure why the home cannot just remain the same all the time. Go figure. Anyway this the ritual that goes on at my house each season. It is not two bad at least you get different views to look at. The one thing that I am glad that no one else knows about is where to get discount furniture,  If this got out we might have to start changing furniture every season also. With that said changing seasons are not too bad. :)

Celebrations and parties during DNC week

With one big convention over the other is convention about to start. It is time to reflect on the DNC convention last week where there was standing room only for the whole week. The mayor of Denver even relaxed the laws for all the vistors for the week. Now the last of the fanfare is gone and all of the fancy stages are taken down the demos can now go back to normal lives unless you need to visit a Chicago accident attorney to work out any problems that might have occured while all the parties and celebrations that went on.   You know who you are.

Best ways for party invitations

In the south we like to have our parties. We will have a party for just about anything. There are normal parties like birthday, wedding, anniversery, football game parties, championship game parties, graduation party, holiday parties, New years and forth of July are some of the crazier ones. Then are those just cause party. For most formal parties there are some expenses involved with invitations, catering and a room to book. There are lots of money spent on Wedding invites, Birthday invitations, Anniversary invites and for some fun parties Halloween invitations. We all like to dress up and pretend you are someone or some thing else for the night.  I believe to stick with the informal parties like hey there is a good game on the tube and I have a cold keg of beer, want to bring food :) and come over to watch the game on the big screen. Simple this way. Getting feed and watching the big game priceless.

The game for finding the best flight deals

I know that the cost of a gallon of gas is going down a little, but not enough reduce you costs from you pocket that much. You still need to watch the signs to find the best prices at the pumps. There are two gas stations that I frequent because over time they have the best fuel deals. Travel on a plane has to be very tricky due to fuel costs, with some charging you extra for carry on luggage and reducing services on flight to save those companies money from the high cost of fuel. This is making the search for flight deals just more of a game, I want the cheapest and safest flight possible while the airline company need to make up there costs due to high fuel costs. This issue just makes the use of computers and internet flight deals website very useful in this game of finding the best deal. I just hope the fuel cost will go down a lot for everyones sake.

Them feet they there Grow

What is it with a new school year and childrens feet. Does the creator know when school starts, this is the time when their feet out grow their current shoes. It is like their feet are being guided by a higher power. With massive feet grow in children, I would not be supprised is some show company like Dansko will have a subscription program make like send you a new pair of shoes every quarter. I think that would handle any growth problem you childs feet may have, and it would be cool to have alot of different pairs of shoes.

Let it stay in Vegas

Summer is dwindling down, I really need to go on a Vegas vacations. There is lots to do in Vegas, just spending a few nights visiting all the state of the art casinos would be worth the trip alone.  A small trip to he Hoover dam, it looks really amazing on tv. Then if you like shows Vegas has shows from the blue man group, Penn and Teller, I even think cher is making another comeback. I almost forgot about all of the WPT poker tournaments that are croping up there. Vegas is the place to visit and then you leave all there. I thnk there is an SEO expo somewhere close this week.

Blog Action Day 2008

This coming October 15 will mark the second year that bloggers around the world will take to action and discuss poverty on the internets second annual Blog Action Day. All blog posts are done for free to raise awareness for the non-profit event. This event that began last year in 2007, is a way for us blog publishers to increase awareness and create a global discussion about poverty.

As is with last year, bloggers will publish at least one blog post, podcast or video about poverty in the world.

Walking with a purpose

In America we like causes, these causes can range from children to adult causes. The great thing we Americans do is we like to raise money for causes. It can be jumping rope to a walk. You sign up donors that will give you so much per jump or lap, then when the function is over you collect the money you raised for charity.

The folks of the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk®, an event created to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. This is another great cause that we sponser on a national basis. I am starting to notice that some of my 80+ year old relatives of mine can and will go in and out of memory, what I mean by that is one moment they are with us at this time, then the next they are back to something that happened to them 60-70 years ago. Sometimes it lasts for a few minutes and other times it can last for hours. The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk® are looking for team captains and volunteers of all ages to champion the fight to find a cure for Alzheimers and take part raising money in the Memory walk.

Yahoo and iPhone. What?

Yahoo has announced that is will have its own online iPhone search, that will let you search the Internet with the functionality of Search Assist and SearchMonkey as extras. This is Yahoo’s latests adventure to enable search for the iPhone that will reduce the amount of time it takes to search for things on the Internet. Cool, I always like fast. This Yahoo/iPhone app allows to enjoy using the Yahoo applications you currently use on your computer desktop.

Yahoo iPhone app offers support for Search Assist. Search Assist completes your queries before you have finished typing them. You can even port you Yahoo modules to iPhone from the Yahoo site. It keeps getting better. As part of the new Yahoo iPhone application usage will be movie showtimes, weather and Flickr. This will get fun as Yahoo and Google compete for iPhone dominence.

When buying a car from a dealer, it is like a adventure in it self. Sometimes just finding the car of your choice at the price you can afford is a lengthy process and take many hours. Hulu breaks the 100+ million vids

Hulu, the joint video website venture from NBC Universal and News Corp has their Hulu.com video website flying high with over 105 million streamed videos last month. That is alot of watching. How many hours is that, talk about tv overload.  The one thing I like about Hulu is it hosts high-quality free streaming movies, TV shows and clips, available to watch when you are. I am glad they are keeping it free.

Now Hulu has signed a deal to run $50 million dollars of advertising revenue on their site. The ads will be from other NBC and News Corp properties, also advertising was purchased from other outside media outlets.  Maybe I need to ad videos to get on the traffic gravy train.

We can always use math tutoring

I know it is still mid August but School has started. I can remember when it was in September when school started. Now in the push to raise the test scores.   I have noticed that their is more help with tutoring these days to prepare for standardized testing, and one-on-one tutoring programs designed to improve student grades.  Being ADD, It would have been nice to have a turtoring service like Club Z, they are are a one-on-one tutoring service that could help me to improve my grades and test score, especially a Math Tutor, I could always use more help in math.  Now a days with the fight to get the highest grade on the Standardized test, services like Club Z have become very popular.

Baseball Cards - An Investment that got LOST

Back in the 70’s I began collecting anything I could get my hands on. Football cards, Basketball cards and the big fish baseball cards. This collecting forwarded on up to the 90’s. Over this time I have boxed up and protected these cards for safe keeping until someday I knew when I wanted to sell them. We grow out of things sometimes. I have monitored the value of the cards since day one hoping that one day I would have a valuable hoard of cards. In the 90’s I checked the value of my cards, and main group that I knew I had had increased in value very nicely. One set was worth close to $1000, that was then over 15 years ago. Now cards are not a commodity that will last for ever, they are paper and anything at any given time to mess them up and their value disappears.

Now for 2007, you would thing that the value of card, baseball cards to be exact would be worth more now than when they were bought 30+ years ago, do-you-not-think? We I was in for the shock of my life. A card worth book value $90, a 1974 season card, would be worth more now, not this same card that no new ones has been made for 33 years is now only work 23 percent of its value in 1990. About 25 dollars, not sure if the ebay.com gods have bastardized the hobby to what it is or what. The baseball card industry does remind me of the housing marketing, you buy something and hold onto it for 30 years, when it is time to sell the value has gone way down.

What is really bad the new baseball card value books now relay these reduced values. These must be the same folks that made up the new global warming hoax.

Somebody help me out please

A Mike Schmidt MINT 1974 Topps Baseball Card #283, his first card that he is alone on a card, but not considered his rookie card was valued over $90 in 1991, Mike a 500 HR hitter and in the Hall-of-fame, now is card is book value at $25. $90-$25 = $65 decrease in 15 years. Somebody is out of their minds on the value.
