Carmaker General Motors is unveiling the redesign of its social media and networking site. The new features executive blogs with user-generated content and several social networking tools. The automaker is working on connecting to younger car buyers who use internet tools like Web 2.0 as part of their daily lives. GMnext.com is the name and Social networking is the games. GM is hoping the GMnext social media efforts will help create a more loyal base of potential customers that will choose GM when the auto industry gets stronger. From a marketing point of view this is brilliant, draw them in the social networking, offer free stuff and make them a customer for life. Simply brilliant.
